Witness (1985)
Directed by Peter Weir, written by William Kelley, Earl W. Wallace, and Pamela Wallace

Capsule review by Darrel Manson:

Peter Wier often tells stories in which someone is put in an environment that is foreign to them.

In Witness, a hardened Philadelphia police officer protecting a young witness to a murder must hide out in an Amish comunity. His tendency to violence meets a counterpoint in the faith of the community. They witness the Amish bear both teach him new ways and ultimately saves him from the violence that encompasses him.
